If it is a simple repair, such as hard drive replacement, memory upgrade, or any software issue, the techs perform the service right then. However, more complicated repairs are typically not able to be performed on-site. We are currently looking at the possibility of sending the more complicated issues out to a vendor to fix them. Does anyone know of a good company that would work a decent deal with us to perform the repairs and send them back to us. We would even consider individual contractors. We pay our current techs $30.00 per hour. Any referrals would be appreciated.

All of our repairs are performed at the clients site, and we have techs in 47 states. All I ever need to do is pop-and-swap on cards, HD's, and CD/DVD ROM's... Mostly, I install and then go online to install drivers and whatnot.

I usually just need a couple screwdrivers, or a good 6-in-1 screwdriver, wire cutters and wire strippers for PSU wiring, some small black zip ties, and that’s about it.

What “repairs” do you plan on doing with this kit? This would have made my powerbook hard drive upgrade a little easier. I DID have an iFixit guide and i managed to find apple's repair book for download somewhere. Those were alot of help.So are you liking Halo 3? I played about an hour of it last night but i had to get some sleep so i wouldn't be worthless at work.So far, I'm very impressed with the Campaign experience.

Nice guide. One good addition to the ice cube tray would be a roll of adhesive tape (e.g., 3M MagicTape): as you remove the screws from the computer, stick them on the tape in the order you take them out. When you are ready to reassemble the computer, take the screws (and other parts) in reverse order from the tape. If you have a marker pen you can draw lines to indicate groups and sub-assemblies to make your life slightly easier. (And keep cats away from the tape at all costs! You don't want to see them running away scared with the tape + screws stuck to them.)

Very good and sensible hints!
