I use 3 as home file/media servers, and couldn't without gigabit.I am disappointed/annoyed that the AirPort Extreme was revved to include gigabit Ethernet. As John pointed out, the Mac mini has had gigabit Ethernet since it received the Intel makeover last year. I use 3 as home file/media servers, and couldn’t without gigabit.
